Healthy Building Equals Healthy Staff

In addition to needing more space, we wanted to move to a space that was more comfortable. The old office had tight quarters that were frequently too hot in the summer or drafty and cold in the winter. We have taken a few steps to create a healthy work environment. We have:

  • used paint with low or no volatile organic compounds (low-VOC)
  • used products that are low-VOC and have no formaldehyde adhesives
  • provided a full kitchen for staff to use to prepare lunch or other meals
  • provided showers in the bathrooms for staff (or members) to use if they bike to work or if they want to exercise during their lunch hour
  • provided covered bicycle parking
  • provided a bicycle for staff use on work-related errands
  • provided two reserved carpool parking spots
  • ensured that each work station has access to natural daylighting
