Home on the Range in Numbers: Energy Use and Costs

Among office buildings of our size, we are in the 100th percentile in terms of energy efficiency. After compiling energy data for a year, we have eliminated 120 tons of CO2 emissions, saved almost $9,000 in energy bills, and used about 79% less energy than a comparable building. Here are the numbers:

  • Energy cost per square foot: $0.55
  • Cost per square foot excluding basement and machinery rooms: $0.65
  • Average cost per square foot expenditure on energy in conventional office buildings: $1.57
  • Average cost per square foot expenditure on energy in energy star approved buildings: $1.20
  • Construction Cost for Building: $1,403,400
  • Construction Cost for New Construction and Conventional Design: $1,728,190
  • Initial Savings: $324,790
  • 10 year Savings: $425,870
  • 30 year Savings: $796,969
